Calling it a bill to fund road repairs is a bit disingenuous.
It doesn’t adequately pay for badly needed road repairs. It doesn’t really start the repairs for another 5 years. It takes $800 million out of the general fund, that is already 1/3 of the size that barely met needs at it’s peak.
The tea party legislature that WE put into office has tried to pass the solution along to the voters, used the roads issue to end the Earned Income Tax Credit, and now has given a bad bill that does too little at too great a cost.
In the meantime, we are all paying for the bad roads in the form of flat tires, dented wheels, broken ball bearing, and prematurely damaged suspensions. Nothing is free.
